BioI just left Atlanta and moved to Birmingham, Alabama to attend Nursing school. Being new to the area and having to figure it all out, is a little scary.
I'm sure I'm like everyone else in the world- entertained by their own writings, but I really do try to write things you'll not be mad that you wasted your time reading, but I'm sure you'll find a lot of ramblings too. But I post to have interactions with people, so please! Engage me! Comment!
6/1/08 Update:
Well, School has been difficult, but I'm rising to the challenge and doing well. I'm one of 8 left out of 35 and going into our last semester. The summer is accelerated- 15 weeks of info into 10 weeks. But then I will have my pinning ceremony on 8-7-08 and then take the NCLEX exam. Then I'll figure out what I've gotten myself into.
I am beginning to see where I'd like to take my talents: Psychosocial nursing, with an emphasis on healing, comforting and holistic nursing.
I am drawn to the transition of death and dying with all the support that the family may need. And the transition of birth and all the transitional healing needed at that time also. I will find a way to incorporate energy work into my nursing.
I'd like to work with the mentally handicapped, and underprivileged, and people in crisis. This sounds kind of twisted, but you don't nurse the healthy. I'm trying to be more focused.
Most of my posts have something to do with school, as that is my life and the thing that I'm struggling to obtain.
07-20-08 update:
Well school is almost done and I'm still hanging on! I won the Florence Nightengale award, nominated by my classmates, and am really proud of that. Things are rough right now personally, beware.
11-20-08 update:
Life is full of happiness again. I work on a GYN post op/ GYN oncology floor at the hospital near my home. I love my apartment and my neighborhood. I love my family and friends and am learning to love me again too, after a bad breakup. With a little help, of course.
5-4-09 Update: Well work is still wonderful, I'm happily in love and almost 35. This next year is going to be interesting. I'm waiting to hear if I got accepted to the RN program I applied to- which will mean another year away from my family and Lover...but a year closer to my self sustaining future. I want to be able to afford to travel and a big house and a few kids and a husband with big dreams. LOL
